Exploring Instagram Blog
In this blog ......, we will explore Instagram's media platforms.
Intro/ Key features
Instagram is a social platform and one of the world's most popular photo and video-sharing platforms. It lets users capture, edit, and share photos and videos with their followers. Instagram was founded by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger and was launched in October 2010. this platform has transformed how we share our lives, allowing users to express creativity through photos, videos and stories. But how does it differ from other social media? Let's dive in.
One key feature that stands out for me on Instagram is a personal discovery platform, the "Explore Page". It presents users with feeds, posts, videos, and stories based on their interests and past interactions. Using the algorithm, the platform tailors the content to each individual preference, making it an excellent tool for discovering new accounts, trends and inspiration.
For example, I love cooking, and Instagram offers a range of reels and helpful videos on new recipes. Because of the algorithm used on Instagram, it showcases a range of reels that give new recipes and cooking tutorials. At its core, Instagram allows users to share their photos and videos with their followers. Whether you're a professional photographer or simply love capturing memorable moments, Instagram provides a visually appealing platform to showcase your creativity.
One of the latest trends is found in a place you wouldn't expect but would completely understand that it is human nature to be curious about other's opinions. A key feature of Instagram is its "comment and interact section." allowing the user to interact by commenting on the post, which creates a community that enables the user to feel important, heard and seen, some being positive, negative, funny and weird.
Instagram vs YouTube
The Instagram platform, compared to YouTube, is entirely different; for example, YouTube is more focused on the long form of content that requires more time and attention from viewers, while Instagram excels in quick, visually engaging snippets.
Instagram vs Twitter
On Instagram, memes often blend humour with current trends, making them easily sharable compared to Twitter, which relies heavily on text-based posts and character limits for humour.
What draws us to Instagram? Many users find inspiration in visually appealing content, from fashion to food to travel. The platform encourages creativity and beautifully curated feeds, making exploring it a delight. The community aspect of (IG) is another critical factor in its popularity; Influencers have capitalized on this, using mems, snippets and their platform to promote brands and lifestyles, further engaging their audience.
To grasp Instagram with our example and points, let's look at Nick Nesgoda (@Burnt_pellet_bbq), a popular account sharing mouth-watering, easy-to-make recipes. Nicks' content is about outdoor cooking, mixing it up and adding a twist, showcasing delicious and appealing meals, mainly focusing on what is added on rather than how it is being made.

I find Instagram to be eye-catching, but sometimes, it can also be bad for our mental health; we are being stimulated too much by using these apps. I find Instagram a source of inspiration and satisfaction, motivating me with new ideas for meals, listening to what others say, reading and seeing different points on a post or story. I love following accounts sharing delicious recipes and food photography, motivating me to try new dishes in my kitchen. Memes and the humour they bring also add a touch of light to my feed, making my daily scrolling a mix of creativity and laughter.
Instagram is appealing due to its diverse features and engaging content. Its features set it apart for me, being able to scroll while having a range of content to watch, making it different from other media platforms, creating a space where creativity thrives, and connections are formed. As we navigate this evolving society, Instagram remains a key player in shaping how we share our stories and content, engaging with the world around us.
